# Creating a Card

> How card creation works, and where to find the step-by-step guide for each card type.

You create cards from **Passes → Create Card**. Every card is built through the same wizard, and each card type has its own full step-by-step guide in this section.

>
> Cards are created and edited **on desktop**. The wizard needs a larger screen, so open it on a computer. As you build the card, the panel on the right shows a **live preview** of what your customer will see (toggle **Apple / Google** and **Front / Details**). ## How to start

Click **Create Card** on the Passes page. You land on **Choose Your Card Type**. Pick a type and click **Continue**.

## The wizard at a glance

After you pick a card type, the wizard walks through these steps:

1. **Settings** the rules of the card (this is different for each card type). This is also where you turn on the optional [card options](#optional-card-options).
2. **Design** how the card background and, for stamp cards, the stamps look.
3. **Card Appearance** your logo, notification icon, and colours.
4. **Sign-up Form** what customers fill in to get the card (gift and employee cards skip this). See [The sign-up form](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/signup-form.md).
5. **Card Information** your company name, business links, the [review link](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/google-review.md), the terms shown on the back of the card, and a link to your own [loyalty programme rules](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/editing-a-card.md) that customers see when they sign up.
6. **Review & Create** check everything, then either activate the card or save it as a draft. See [Activate or save as a draft](#activate-or-save-as-a-draft).

## Activate or save as a draft

The last step of the wizard gives you two buttons:

* **Create & Activate**: the card goes **live immediately**. You can share it and customers can join straight away.
* **Save as Draft**: the card is saved but **not live**. Its sign-up link shows a "This card is not available" message until you activate it, which is handy while you are still finishing the design or waiting for a launch date.

You can activate a draft later at any time, from the **"..."** menu on the [Passes page](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/passes-page.md) or after editing it. ## Optional card options

On top of the core rules, most cards can turn on a few optional extras in the **Settings** step (the review link is in the **Card Information** step). Each has its own short guide:

> You can change a card's **design at any time** after creating it, and the update applies to **existing cardholders and new ones**, so passes already in customers' wallets refresh automatically.
