# Papaya: overview

> Connect VEXiON cards to your Papaya POS so loyalty cards are handled at the till.

Connecting VEXiON cards to the **Papaya** POS means loyalty cards are handled **at the till**. When a customer scans their card, VEXiON works out their stamps, points, or discount, and Papaya applies it to the bill.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This is the overview. The other Papaya guides cover [connecting and setup](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/papaya-setup.md), [menu and products](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/papaya-menu.md), [card types and point setup](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/papaya-card-types.md), and [working at the till](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/papaya-pos.md).

## What the Papaya integration is

It links your VEXiON loyalty program to your Papaya POS. You **set your loyalty points inside VEXiON**, on a product list synced from Papaya, so you do not edit loyalty in the Papaya admin.

* **Per-location connection**: each location connects with its Papaya **URL** and an **API token**.
* **Two webhooks**: Papaya calls VEXiON when a card is scanned, and again when the bill is paid.
* **Menu sync**: your products (names, prices, categories) are pulled from Papaya into VEXiON.
* **Points set in VEXiON**: you decide which products earn and redeem points, in VEXiON's product table.
* **Automatic or manual redemption**: you choose, per card type, how rewards are applied at the till (this is the main thing that sets Papaya apart).

> [!NOTE]
>
> Papaya is a **Slovak** POS, and the messages the cashier sees on the Papaya screen are in Slovak, regardless of your VEXiON language.

## How it works

Papaya calls VEXiON **twice** per sale: once when the card is scanned (to read the discount), and once when the bill is paid (to record the transaction and update the card).

### Automatic vs manual redemption

The big choice with Papaya is **how a reward is applied**, and you set it separately for stamp cards and reward (cashback) cards:

| Mode | What the cashier does | When to use |
| - | - | - |
| **Automatic** | Nothing. The reward applies on its own when the customer has enough. | Simplest for staff |
| **Manual** | Adds a special **"VEXiON Odmena"** product to the bill before scanning, only when the customer wants to redeem. | When you want the customer to choose |

In **manual** mode, if the "VEXiON Odmena" product is not on the bill, the card only **earns**, it does not redeem. See [Card types and point setup](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/papaya-card-types.md) for the details.

## Supported card types

| Card type | Supported | How it works |
| - | :-: | - |
| Stamp card | ✅ | Collect stamps, redeem for a free or discounted product |
| Reward card (cashback) | ✅ | Points convert to a euro discount |
| Discount card | ✅ | Automatic percentage discount by tier |
| Gift card | ✅ | Prepaid credit, sold, topped up and spent at the till |

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Gift cards work on Papaya.** Cards are sold, topped up and spent at the till, and a customer who bought one online can pay for it at the counter. See [Gift cards](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/papaya-gift-cards.md).

## Requirements

| Requirement | Detail |
| - | - |
| Papaya account | An active Papaya POS account |
| API token | Generated in the Papaya admin (Administrácia → API) |
| Loyalty webhooks | Configured in Papaya so it can call VEXiON |
| VEXiON account | An active VEXiON cards account |
| Loyalty card | At least one card created in VEXiON |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Papaya is a POS integration and is part of **VEXiON cards PRO**. See [Plans and pricing](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/billing-plans.md).

## Quick start

**1. Add your location**

In Settings → Integrations, expand **Papaya**, add a location with its **URL** and **API token**, and test the connection.

**2. Configure the webhooks in Papaya**

In Papaya, set the loyalty **type**, and paste VEXiON's two webhook URLs and token.

**3. Sync your menu**

Pull your products from Papaya into VEXiON.

**4. Set up loyalty on your products**

In VEXiON's product table, set which products earn and redeem points, and choose automatic or manual redemption.

**5. Done**

The integration is active. See [Connecting and setup](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/papaya-setup.md) for the full walkthrough.
