# Employee cards on the scanner

> Apply a staff discount, with or without a monthly limit.

An [employee card](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/employee-card.md) gives a staff member a discount for the month, with or without a **monthly limit**. At the till it works like a normal discount card, with one difference: the left panel shows what is left this month instead of tiers.

**Left panel:** the **discount %**, shown as a coloured tile on phones and as the top row on desktop. With it: **Last visit** and **Remaining**:

* With a monthly limit: how much of the limit is left, for example "35 / 100€".
* With no limit: how much is left at the current discount, or **No limit** when the employee is on the last level.

There is no spend-to-next-tier or member-since here. Desktop and landscape tablets also show a card preview.

## Apply a discount

Type the **bill amount** and tap **Apply discount**, exactly as on a standard [discount card](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/scanner-discount.md).

>
> With a monthly limit: once the employee has used it up, the panel shows **0%** and **Monthly limit reached, no discount**. Applying then just records the purchase with no discount. Everything starts again on the card's reset day each month.
