# Stamp Card

> Create a collect-and-earn stamp card step by step: customers gather stamps and unlock a reward when the card is full.

A **Stamp Card** is the digital version of the paper punch card. Customers collect stamps, and once the card is full they earn the reward. It is the most familiar loyalty mechanic.

## How it works

* The customer adds the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
* The card shows **Stamps of 10** (your own goal). After each stamp the customer gets a message such as "⭐ +1 stamp • 3 more stamps to your reward • You have 7 stamps".
* On each qualifying purchase, staff add one or more stamps on the [Scanner](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/using-the-scanner.md).
* Stamps are **not capped**. The customer can keep collecting past a full card, and any extra carries over.
* The reward can be redeemed once the customer reaches **halfway plus one** stamp (for example 6 on a 10-stamp card, but never fewer than 3 stamps), so you can give it a little early if you like.
* **Redeeming clears one full card's worth of stamps.** If the card was only partly filled (under the full number), it resets to 0. If it was full or over, the surplus carries over: 10 becomes 0, and 11 becomes 1. Rewards repeat, so a full card never ends the relationship.

For exactly what staff tap at the counter, see [Stamp cards on the scanner](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/scanner-stamp.md).

## Best for

* Cafés, bakeries, coffee shops, and hairdressers.
* Any repeat-visit business that wants a simple "buy several, get one free" loyalty loop.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Good to know:** rewards repeat, so a full card does not end the relationship. An optional **starting bonus** and **referral** bonuses help new customers get going.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If you want customers to **buy** their stamps up front instead of collecting them, switch on **Paid in advance**. See [Paid in advance](#paid-in-advance).

> [!TIP]
>
> Already created this card? You can [edit it any time](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/editing-a-card.md): change the settings, design, or details, and the update reaches existing cardholders.

## Paid in advance

Switch on **Paid in advance** in the card settings and the card works the other way round. The customer buys the stamps first. Staff use them up on each visit.

1. The customer adds the **empty** card to the wallet.
2. At the counter the cashier **charges** the card. It fills to the full set of stamps, for example ten coffees. The customer pays for the pack at this moment.
3. On each visit staff **deduct** stamps, counting down to zero.
4. At **0** the cashier can charge the card again to sell another pack.

The card shows **Remaining stamps**. After each use the customer gets a message such as "✅ 1 stamp used • Balance: 6 stamps". For what staff tap at the counter, see [Stamp cards paid in advance on the scanner](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/scanner-prepaid-stamp.md).

Best for prepaid packs and bundles: coffee packs, class packs, wash bundles.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Good to know:**
>
> * Choose it when you create the card. It **cannot be changed on a saved card**.
> * There is **no starting bonus**, because the stamps are paid for, not given.

On the **How Many Stamps?** step, set the rules of the card:

* **How Many Stamps** (slider, 1 to 20): how many stamps a customer collects for a reward.
* **Paid in advance** (switch): customers buy the stamps first and use them up. See [Paid in advance](#paid-in-advance). Off by default. Not available on a saved card.
* **[Card Issuance Limit](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/card-issuance-limit.md)** (toggle): cap the maximum number of cards that can be issued.

**3. Stamp Design**

On the **Stamp Design** step, choose how the stamps look:

* **Design Mode**: **Standard** (pick one stamp icon) or **Individual** (upload a separate background image for each stamp count).
* **Stamp Icon** (Standard mode): choose from the library of 10,000+ icons.
* **Custom Background**: optionally upload an image to sit behind the stamps (recommended 1125 x 432 px).

Click **Continue**.

**4. Card Appearance**

On the **Card Appearance** step, upload images and set colours:

* **Logo** (recommended 480 x 150 px).
* **Notification Icon** shown in push notifications and the wallet app list (recommended 512 x 512 px), with a live preview.
* **Card Colors**: Text Color, Background Color, and the colour Under Stamps.

Click **Continue**.

**5. Sign-up Form**

On the **Sign-up Form** step, choose what customers fill in to get the card:

* **Language**: the languages the form is offered in (EN, SK, CS, DE).
* **Active Fields**: **Email** and **First Name** are always on the form and always required. Mark other fields required; drag to reorder.
* **Available Fields** you can add: **Last Name, Phone, Date of Birth**, and any **custom fields** you have created. You can also **Create custom field** here to collect something specific to your business.

Click **Continue**.

**6. Card Information**

On the **Card Information** step, set the text and links on the card:

* **Company Name**: your business name.
* **Business Links**: your website, Instagram and Facebook. They appear on the back of the card.
* **Review Link**: choose **Automatic** (recommended: the Google review link of the store where each customer signed up), **Custom link** (one review page you choose, the same for every customer) or **Off** (no review link on the card). See [Review link](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/google-review.md).
* **Show terms of use**: switch it on to display your terms and conditions on the back of the card, then type them into the box that appears.
* **Loyalty programme rules**: its own switch, separate from **Show terms of use**. Turn it on and paste the web address of your own programme rules. Customers see the link when they sign up, next to the VEXiON terms, and it does not replace them. The link is never on the card. If you paste an address without `https://`, it is added for you. See [Editing a card](https://vexioncards.mintlify.site/knowledge-base/editing-a-card.md).

Click **Continue**.

**7. Review & Create**

The **Review** step summarises everything. Then either **Save as Draft** to finish later, or **Create & Activate** to make the card live. A draft is not visible to customers until you activate it.
