This is the day-to-day guide for whoever stands at the till. Setting the connection up is covered in connecting and setup.
OBERON’s screens are in Slovak only. The labels below are quoted exactly as they appear on a current OBERON till. Wording can differ slightly between OBERON versions, but the flow is the same.

Where the loyalty functions live

The till is at Sklad → Pokladnica OBERON. Everything to do with loyalty happens in three places on the till screen: According to OBERON’s own help, loyalty also works outside the till, in Kniha pohľadávok (issued invoices) and Výdajky (release notes), through the Možnosti button on those forms.
OBERON’s own help covers the till side of loyalty at Vernostný systém na Pokladnici OBERON.
The OBERON till with the Zákazník tab open, showing an empty Číslo vernostnej karty field with a selection button and a red cross next to it, and the Čerpanie benefitov and Tlač dokladu buttons on the screen.

The Zákazník tab, before a card is attached

Attaching the customer’s card

Any of these three works:
  • Scan the card with the barcode scanner, straight into the till. OBERON recognises it as a loyalty card and attaches the customer without opening anything. This needs the pattern from setup, step 3c.
  • Press the … button next to Číslo vernostnej karty on the Zákazník tab, and scan or type the number there.
  • Press Čerpanie benefitov, which also asks for the card.
When a dialog opens, its title tells you which mode it is in: kumulovanie benefitu (collecting) or čerpanie benefitu (spending). Once attached, the dialog shows the card holder’s name and their balance under Vernostné body, and the name is filled into Názov on the Zákazník tab. On a discount card the Zľava field stays empty at this point. It fills in only once the discount has been applied, in the next step.
The OBERON till Zákazník tab with a card number in Číslo vernostnej karty, Kumulovať benefity ticked, the customer name test test in Názov, and Zľava showing 20 percent.

If the name is wrong or nothing comes back, stop and see Troubleshooting.

Ringing up a sale with a card

1

Add the items

Ring the items up as normal. The card can be attached before or after.
2

Attach the card

Any of the three ways above.
3

Apply the discount (discount cards)

Press Čerpanie benefitov, confirm with OK, choose Zľava na celý doklad. and confirm with OK again. The discount appears on the item lines.
The OBERON till with the Položky dokladu tab open, showing one item with a 20 percent discount marked on its line and the lower total on the display.

The discount on the bill

4

Take payment

Press Tlač dokladu, choose how the customer pays, then Tlač. The receipt shows the discount on each item, for example Zľava 20% z ceny.
The OBERON payment dialog Výber spôsobu úhrady with the amount to pay, the cash, voucher and card payment fields, and the Tlač, E-mail and Zatvoriť buttons.

Taking payment

After payment the customer is cleared from the till automatically, ready for the next sale.
Remove the card if the sale does not go ahead. The customer stays attached to an open bill until it is paid or you remove them with the red cross next to Číslo vernostnej karty. If you empty the bill but leave the card on it, the next items rung up on that bill get the customer’s discount.

Spending points (reward cards)

1

Load the card first

The card has to be on the receipt before you can spend anything from it.
2

Open benefit redemption

Press Čerpanie benefitov on the top panel. OBERON’s help also lists the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + E. The Vernostný systém - čerpanie benefitu form opens.
3

Pick the benefit

VEXiON offers what the customer’s balance allows. Their points arrive as an amount of money off, worked out from your Value of 1 Loyalty Point setting.
4

Apply it and finish

The benefit goes onto the receipt and you take payment for the rest. VEXiON deducts the points that were spent.

What a benefit can look like

OBERON’s help lists three shapes of benefit on a receipt. VEXiON uses the first two:
If the customer does not have enough points, VEXiON refuses the redemption and OBERON shows how many points they actually have. Nothing is deducted and the sale can carry on without the benefit.

Checking a card or a past transaction

Sklad → Vernostný systém - transakcie lists the loyalty transactions recorded at this till. From the Možnosti button there, Zobraziť informácie o vernostnej karte opens Vernostný systém - info for the card itself. To see the same thing from the VEXiON side, open the customer in VEXiON. Their transactions are listed with the shop each one was recorded against.

Returns and cancelled receipts

When you cancel a paid receipt or take goods back, attach the customer’s card again on the return receipt. Oberon then sends the return to VEXiON and the points or spend for that purchase are taken off the card. Without the card, Oberon sends nothing, so the customer keeps what the purchase earned; correct it on the customer in VEXiON if needed.
Oberon does not tell VEXiON which original receipt a return belongs to. Attach only the card of the customer who made the original purchase.

Two tills in the same shop

Both tills are set up with the same address, username and password. They still work completely independently: each signs in on its own, and each sale is recorded separately against that shop. There is nothing to coordinate between them and nothing to switch over between customers.

Troubleshooting

The card is real, but this till is pointed at the wrong business or at no shop. This is a setup problem, not something the cashier can fix at the till. Check the address in OBERON against the one VEXiON shows for this shop, in connecting and setup.
Three things to check, in order: the customer may have a zero balance, their card type may be switched off in the VEXiON settings (Settings → Integrations → OBERON), or the card may be a stamp card, which OBERON does not support at all.
OBERON calculates the points and sends them to VEXiON. If it sends none, none are recorded. This is the Kumulovanie vernostných bodov setting on the OBERON loyalty system form. See card types and settings.
VEXiON checks the balance before allowing a redemption and refuses if it is short, showing what is actually available. Redeem a smaller amount, or finish the sale without the benefit.
This till was set up with another shop’s address. Every till in a shop must use that shop’s address. See connecting and setup.
Either the password was changed in VEXiON, in which case every till needs the new one, or someone used Issue a new address for this shop, which switches the old address off immediately.
